Lemur's announcement
‘Twas the night before the election and all through the Great State,
Not a creature was stirring – except for your’s truly (Lemurs stay up late).
I was pondering and wondering as I tinkled the keys,
Surfing the net for election info. Free as I please.
“There is no good candidate!” I said with a groan.
“No one I trust to guide my State, the place I call home.”
“There’s Perry, the incumbent, with his road that goes nowhere,
“No Trans Texas corridor, thank you – Get it outta there!”
“Then Kinky, comedian, cigar chomping friend in black.
“Austin is weird enough, shall we add this hack to the stack?”
“Strayhorn, state comptroller, (sigh) need I consider this?
“The tax lady cometh. Vote for her if you like the IRS.”
“Finally Chris Bell, liberal man with trial lawyer friends.
“After pounding on Perry, your John-O’Quinn-money simply offends.”
My eyes rolled back and the room began to spin. “No more!”
I cried. “These folk are (empty) promises galore!”
Then my resolve hardened and I knew that I must
Take prompt action. People need someone they trust!
Therefore, I declare to you now, my wonderful readers,
That, at great cost to myself, I’ll volunteer as your leader.
When Tuesday rolls round, and those others offend,
Write in R.T. Lemur, on me you can depend.

There was an election?!
Actually none of the Libertarians I voted for made it in. They at least want less legislation instead of heaping piles of bad law the other 2 parties are spewing out these days.
Sadly I couldn't write in Lemur as there was no list of write in candidates supplied to me. I looked. I should call the secretary of state and complain that my vote for "other" was repressed. But apathy took me and I put my ballot in the box. Perhaps if I hadn't been forced to go to 3 polling places and wait in line before I could cast my vote I might have had more personal investment left. Perhaps if we had "Voting-by-mail" as used in Oregon we could get over 60% turn out also...but why encourage or "let" all people vote easily? Then the career politicians might not get to say they have "A Mandate" from the barely 2 digit portion or us voting.
